Pumpkin patch, hayrides, straw tunnels, a corn maze, farm animals, pig races, and even pumpkin smashing… where to begin? If you want to experience a full day of fun on the farm, head to Berryville, Virginia, to visit Wayside Farm Fun. This 20-acre family farm in Clarke County (just past Loudoun County) each year hosts a fall festival that features enough for the whole family to do, without the hustle and bustle of some of the larger festivals.
Here, even the littlest guests can visit goats (and maybe see them enjoying the goat walk!), play games, ride mini tractors, race rubber duckies (or watch pigs enjoy races of their own!), ride giant see-saws, and more. With hayrides, a huge pumpkin patch, a farm market, and plenty of photo opportunities, there is enough for adults to enjoy, too. We have attended Wayside Farm Fun’s Fall Festival for the past couple of years and had a great time; this year’s event takes place . Our review from last year has details on the activities you can enjoy and lots of photos to give you a sneak peek at what you can expect.
Admission to Wayside Farm Fun is just $10 per person (free to kids 2 and under) every day and includes cover all activities. At that price, the farm is already a great deal, but they’re making it even better by offering Fairfax Family Fun readers a 20% off discount, for just $8 per person (just mention Fairfax Family Fun upon arrival)! This offer is good for any day, all season long!
Wayside Farm Fun also hosts special events. On October 1-2, 2016, is the Harvest Moon Festival with additional activities including face painting and pumpkin decorating, and October 29-30 there will be trick-or-treating at the farm. There will also be a special night maze on Friday and Saturday, October 21-22, from 6 pm to 10 pm, with one version just as a dark maze and the other a “spooky” version with actors from the Loudoun Valley Performing Arts program.
The Family Friendly Pumpkin Run on Sunday, October 23, will start with a kids’ 5K obstacle run, followed by a carnival where the kids will be entertained so that Mom and Dad and older siblings can walk/run a 5K around the farm. After the race, the farm will open and all families are invited to stay and play. All proceeds (100%) from the race are donated to Loudoun Breast Health Network.
And of course there is the famous maze, which we got lost in (for real!) last year! This year the farm is celebrating all things Redskins, including the Kirk Cousins Corn Maze (as seen on ESPN!).
