Spring has (almost) sprung! After a cold and snowy winter, we know many of you are eager for warmer days and more outdoor options. And Spring and Easter bring many options for family fun! Our annual guide for spring and Easter events is back, with dozens of once-a-year opportunities for family fun. We’ve split up our guide into two lists:
General Spring events: Here you will find information on parades and major festivals such as the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC, and the Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, VA, both of which are multi-day events, plus local celebrations in Northern Virginia including SpringFest Fairfax. Most of these events are free or very cheap, and all are a wonderful way to usher in spring!
Easter events: Our huge list includes unique events include aqua egg hunts in the pool, glow-in-the-dark hunts, and a marshmallow hunt. Some are free and some have a fee, some are walk-in and others require registration, and most have age restrictions. At most egg hunts kids gather plastic eggs filled with chocolates, candies, and toys, but at others they collect empty eggs to trade in for a goodie bag. Some events take place at farms that do not have paved paths, so you might want to bring a change of clothes (or at least different shoes) if your kids are coming from church in an Easter dress or “Sunday best.” See details and inclement weather policies on the official websites, and note inclement weather policies, and remember your Easter baskets and cameras!
