What’s better than an afternoon of family fun? An afternoon of family fun that ultimately serves a greater purpose. Silver Sparkles, an annual event to raise funds for brain cancer and tumor research, returns on Saturday, March 2, noon-5 pm. The fun takes place at Competitive Edge Athletic Performance Center in Woodbridge, and all proceeds go to the Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.
Silver Sparkles is the creation of local blogger Kristina Schnack Kotlus of Prince William County (PWC) Moms, for whom the cause is close to her heart. Kristina herself is a five-year survivor of a brain tumor and has turned that experience into an opportunity to give back through a celebration that’s all about family fun. The name Silver Sparkles, by the way, comes from the fact gray is the color of the ribbon signifying brain tumor awareness.
At the event there will be kids’ activities, sports demos, live entertainment, food vendors, and more. Tickets are $20 (plus a $2.85 service fee) and cover admission for the whole family (the people who live in your house with you). See the event site for the full list of vendors and events.
