On this very cold day, my munchkins and I had a very heartwarming experience. Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music was such a fun and interactive show! My daughters, ages 4 and 5, truly enjoyed it!
The live show starts off just like the television show we all love, with all of neighborhood characters, and featuring the Letter of the Day (J) and the number 8. To make matters interesting, there is someone new that the characters are welcoming into the Sesame Street neighborhood, Ms. Jenny, the music teacher!
Sesame Street Live is playing now through this Sunday at EagleBank Arena on the George Mason University campus. Throughout the show Elmo, Grover, Abby Cadaby, and friends explore “What Makes Music” using everyday items (such as wooden spoons or cookie jars), and the kids love it. The Count also joins in on the fun and helps everyone in the audience count, and even Oscar the Grouch gets in on it and suggests everyone use their feet to make music. Now… we all know Oscar dislikes almost everything!
The Sesame Street characters decide they want to surprise Ms. Jenny by putting together a bunch of items that make music. Poor Ms. Jenny spends the entire show looking for her truck with musical instruments while the characters pretend they haven’t seen it, ha ha! In the end, there is a great instrument party filled with great songs and dancing. My daughters’ favorite songs were “Dance to the Music” and “Rockin Robin.”.They both got up and started dancing during these segments, and this mommy was happy. The absolute sweetest moments were hearing all of the little voices in the audience singing the alphabet song with Ms. Jenny, Elmo singing the kid favorite “Elmo’s World” and the silly Mr. Noodle showing up and making all the kids laugh. This production is a must-see for the kids!!
The next shows are on Saturday December 17, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and on Sunday December 18, at 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available online or by phone at 800-745-3000 and start at $18.
