Disney stage shows are elaborate productions filled with favorite characters, well-loved stories, and of course, Disney pixel dust. Each winter Disney Live comes to our area. The most recent show was on February 21, 2016.
And wow! “Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie’s Doorway to Magic” was just that: magic. Because we had been to quite a few Disney on Ice shows, we were under the impression that it would something similar. Boy, were we wrong! Disney Live was very different and still incredibly entertaining!
Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy found themselves unlocking some of our favorite Disney stories with each door they opened. The characters from Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel and Aladdin were singing and dancing while also surprising the audience with amazing magic tricks that left even the adults guessing! One of our favorite magic tricks was Aladdin and Princess Jasmine being wrapped in a carpet, but when when the carpet unraveled, Rapunzel was there instead… Aladdin and Princess Jasmine had disappeared!
In other scenes, a woman was sawed in half, ropes that had been cut were whole again, characters were floating in the air, and they even had Mickey Mouse and the dancing brooms from Fantasia! Buzz Lightyear put on an AMAZING laser show, and the Toy Story characters really “roped us in” with their rope jumping scene.
We had so much fun and my daughters could barely stay seated! The show transitioned very smoothly and it was very interactive as the audience was directed to clap, stomp and chant magic words, leaving me with my favorite part of the show: watching my daughters believe in magic, the kind that only Disney can create. I would highly recommend this show to boys and girls of all ages. You will not be disappointed.
