We love to entertain, and one of our favorite times for this is Halloween. Few holidays let you have so much fun with decorations, foods, games, and outfits. One place where you can get all of this is Oriental Trading, which has a huge assortment of Halloween tricks and treats!
Whether you’re looking to make creepy crafts, hand out fun treats, decorate your “haunted mansion,” or even find a great costume for Halloween night trick-or-treating or a party, you’ll find plenty of options on Oriental Trading’s giant online “showroom!” This is our go-to source for many of our events, as shopping online lets us not only find what we’re looking for but we come across some fun, unique finds, too.
Here are some of our favorite selections from this year’s Halloween offerings on the Oriental Trading site:
Halloween fortune cookies
These orange and black cookies are great for so many purposes: as edible decorations, as party desserts, as goodie bag items, and as handouts for trick-or-treaters. At just $8.25 per package of 50 pieces, these are a good bargain. They come individually wrapped, making them easy to distribute. For our annual “spooky supper,” though, I am taking these out of their little bags and putting them in a bowl, labeled “Mis-fortune cookies,” for a simple but fantastic presentation. I’ve bought themed fortune cookies from Oriental Trading before, and as always, these are very crisp with a nice, fresh taste (a few tend to break during shipping, though, so you might want to buy more than one bag). Another plus to these cookies: the fun sayings. The fortunes are all themed, with sayings such as “You may be stuck in your costume… forever,” “If the broom fits, fly it high!” and “A crazy bat will get stuck in your hair.”
Halloween games
If you’re hosting a kids’ party, look at the Halloween games that Oriental Trading offers. They have more than 100 items. Most are individual little toys intended as giveaway items, but some are useful for group activities, such as the Halloween footballs and the pumpkin bean toss game, which we got.
Halloween costumes
I was surprised at how big the selection of Halloween costumes, both for kids and adults, that Oriental offers, along with accessories such as wigs. Here you will find a wide variety of classic choices — pirates, superheroes, princesses, zombies, witches, TV characters, and more — along with some truly unique options. For our son, we got a black and silver ninja costume that came with just about everything (minus the weapons) for just $19.99. We also got him a “man-eating shark costume” with legs sticking out of the mouth, as our own tribute to Sharnado! This costume is more of a splurge ($55.00) but it is a very unique piece.
Edible and non-edible treats
You may not think to shop for Halloween candy online, but why not? Oriental Trading has a surprisingly good selection of well-known candies by popular brands, along with some unique pieces. Lollipops, chocolates, gummy candies, Halloween-shaped treats, they’re all here. And if you want to give non-candy goodies in addition to (or in lieu of sweets) you can find plenty of choices in bulk savings. This year we are participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project that lets trick-or-treaters know that we have allergy-friendly treats. Through Oriental, I bought “safe” candies such as small individual bags of Haribo gummy bears ($6.99 for 44 pieces) and chocolate-flavored Sixlets ($9.99 for 110 pieces). To give kids a choice, we also have some fun toys to give out, including Halloween-themed rubber duckies ($6.50 per dozen) and plastic mustache-shaped whistles ($6.98 for 48 pieces). We also got an actual teal pumpkin also from Oriental Trading ($12.99), a lightweight but durable piece we can use year after year.
