What to do to occupy a group tweenagers on a cold winter Friday evening? We decided to host a movie night party at home! It’s easy fun and makes for a great night of fun, friendship, creativity and a lot of laughs.
Yes, you could always pick up a movie, order one on demand (yawn), but we divided into groups and made our own movies and plays. It’s amazing what “tweenagers” can do with iMovie. Even better, some groups opted to put on a live play and recorded it.
I ordered everything I needed from Oriental Trading Company to make the evening super festive. We were able to create an impressive entrance to the event. I ordered the red carpet with a movie night red aisle runner, a VIP entrance door cover, and completed the entrance with a red doorway rope.
The table was set for a pizza dinner with movie night dinner plates and luncheon napkins with a movie night table runner, and camera and film confetti sprinkled on top. We decorated the walls with movie night cutouts. I set the stage with a red curtain backdrop with an inflatable movie buff by the side. The girls started their filming with the help of the director’s clapboard and the movie titles were displayed to the audience (parents) with the movie night chalkboard. I wish I had ordered a few more things from the grand events section and plan to do this for my next bash.
I especially like the gold stars that you can hang or place on walls and tables. It is top rated and a pinterest favorite. I would also order the gold stars on a black background tablecloth roll. They also have a fabulous black and gold table skirt and Tom Cruise Rayband knock off sunglasses. This would really dress up the movie night even more. The Gold stars theme would be perfect to use for the graduation celebration for my daughter!
For my family and friends, this made for a super fun Friday night. You can also use these ideas when hosting a party where you want to treat your guests like celebrities and roll out the carpet for these “stars!” if you want. The good thing about a movie theme is that is works for all ages, including teens and pre-teens.
