While Great Country Farms makes for a fun family outing just about any time of year, its special events make a visit to this fun farm and outdoor playground extra-special. Coming up soon is the annual Apple Gala & Cider Festival September 1-2 and 8-9, 2018. That second weekend is First Responders weekend, with complimentary family admission for first responders (must show ID).
The farm will celebrate the start of the apple picking and cider pressing season with tastings and fun activities. There will be cider pressing demonstrations at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays on an antique 1865 cider press that visitors will get a chance to try out. There also will be Farmer Jake’s new bladder press as well so you can compare the work and results.
Other activities include live music, wagon des to the orchard for apple picking, and tastings of Rinkers freshly pressed cider. Adults also will get hard cider tastings with an expanded list of Hard Cider from Corcoran Vineyard and Wild Hare Hard Cider. Tastings with are an additional tasting fee ($.50/taste) and available Saturdays and Sundays 11 am-3 pm.
This is all in addition to the regular farm activities which include a corn maze, giant jumping pillow, rope swings, putt-putt (mini) golf, a pedal cart track, playgrounds, farm animals to visit, and lots more. Admission to Great Country Farms is $8 per child and $10 per adult on weekdays, and $10 per child and $12 per adult on weekends.
