So many chocolate festivals, so little time! Among the area’s winter chocolate festivals is one hosted by Floris United Methodist Church (UMC) in Herndon. The 25th annual Floris UMC Chocolate Festival takes place this year on Saturday, February 13, 2016 — just in time for Valentine’s Day!
At this event, which runs from 11 am to 3 pm, guests can sample and purchase all sorts of chocolate confections. More than that, this is a fun community event for families, with carnival games, large inflatables, face painting, balloon art, and a travel and entertainment silent auction table.
Admission is free and guests pay for individual chocolate treats; lunch also will be available for purchase. Kids’ games have a small fee, and a $5 wristband gives them unlimited access to all the children’s activities. Visitors also can buy lunch and bid on silent auction items. Money raised from the festival will support the church’s Help Hungry Kids program, which sends food home in backpacks to children in local elementary schools who otherwise would be hungry over the weekend.
