How do you plan to spend New Year’s Eve (NYE) weekend? Maybe you’ll be taking it easy watching one of the college football bowl games. Or starting a new year on a healthy note by participating in a hike or a race. Many people will be celebrating, of course, and if you have kids and are keeping things easy with a party at home, we have some ideas for kid-friendly New Year’s Eve decorations, crafts, and activities.
If you want to celebrate big, there are many large special events and community festivals in Northern Virginia featuring live music, games, children’s activities, and fireworks. Our annual guide to a Family-friendly New Year’s Eve lists all these events, some of which let you ring in the new year with family members of all ages. (PS – Ditching the kids that night? My recent article in Posh Seven magazine also lists some fun adults-only NYE celebrations including special dinners, concerts, and festive parties.)
