With plenty of animals to see outside, some exhibits and a fun playground inside, and many special events, Leesburg Animal Park offers fun outdoor and indoor options for kids of all ages, all year long. On the grounds, visitors can meet (and sometimes pet) dozens of animals, including barnyard and exotic ones. Inside, you’ll find more animals on display and large play areas: there’s a spacious “discovery room” for tots with activities and crafts for learning about farms and wildlife creatures, and a playroom with a huge three-floor climbing and jumping structure and floor games.
In the fall, this already-fun place adds more attractions as it transforms itself into the Pumpkin Village, an outdoor fall festival (included in the park admission) that more than doubles the activities you can enjoy. There, you will find hayrides, several moon bounces, two kids’ zip lines, giant hill slides, obstacle courses, lawn games, a pumpkin playhouse village, pedal carts, pony rides, and, on weekends, live entertainment and camel rides. Pumpkin Village takes place this year daily September 16 to November 7, 2017. Check the schedule to see what’s new and what fun you can expect on weekends, including shows by renowned local children’s entertainers!
Leesburg Animal Park also has a self-serve snack shop with treats and hot food items and a nice indoor gift shop and outdoor farm market. But of course, animals take center stage here. Leesburg Animal Park sits on 21 acres, but most of its wild residents are concentrated in specific areas so you can visit just about all of them without having to go too far. Outdoors, wild and barnyard animals include cows, goats, sheep, lambs, pigs, horses, deer, llamas, donkeys, chickens, giant turtles, porcupines, zebras, camels, gibbons, serval cats, bunnies, ducks, and more. Inside, there are more creatures, including lemurs, a sloth, and snakes, iguanas, and other reptiles.
See for yourself below all the fun you can have! The photos included here are from a couple of visits we made to Leesburg Animal Park during the Pumpkin Village days in October 2015.
