Halloween is big in Northern Virginia, with many fun family events leading up to the holiday. But on Halloween night itself, where can you go? If you don’t want to stay at home, if you live in a neighborhood that is not all that great for trick-or-treating, or if you just want to go somewhere with a more festive atmosphere, a nice option is the annual Mall-O-Ween at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax.
This event, which includes traditional trick-or-treating, also features special activities for kids, all in a safe, well-lighted environment. Another “plus” of Mall-O-Ween is that because it all takes place indoors, guests don’t have to worry about whether it will rain or if it will be too cold (or even too hot for some costumes!) outside. Celebrating Halloween at the mall means you can make definitely make plans for October 31, whatever the weather may be that night.
Fair Oaks Mall is again celebrating its Mall-O-Ween, one of the largest indoor Halloween events of its kind in the Washington D.C. area, on Monday, October 31, 2016, 5:30-7:30 pm. The event is now in its 29th year. As part of the festivities, kids can visit Spooktacular experiments in the Grand Court sponsored by Children’s Science Center. Enjoy photo opportunities throughout the center with Stiltwalker Costumed Halloween characters – plus, candy and activity stations with face painters and balloon artists.
Mall-O-Ween is a very popular event that is expected to attract more than 20,000 guests. The free, family-friendly event is geared to children ages 12 and under, and costumes are encouraged. The activities will take place between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Fair Oaks Mall is centrally located at 11750 Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax, VA 22033, near the intersection of Route 50 and I-66. Parking is plentiful, with more than 8,000 easily accessed, free parking spaces. For more information visit www.shopfairoaksmall.com
