If your kids are lamenting that summer is gone and that means no more trips to a theme park, it’s time to hit the road: In the fall, you can still enjoy family fun at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, which opens briefly for the season. At night, its popular Howl-O-Scream event turns the park into a scary place, but during the day, you can enjoy silly, not-too-spooky fun with The Count’s Spooktcular.
Every weekend in October (through October 29, 2017), children age nine and younger are encouraged to come dressed in their best Halloween costume to enjoy a day full of fun at the park, including rides, Halloween shows, and dancing and playing with their favorite Sesame Street friends at The Count’s Spooktacular. Admission includes the all-new show, Count’s Countdown to Halloween, dance parties, and parading with friendly, furry monsters through the park. There are also kid-sized and family-friendly rides, family activities, and trick-or-treating around the park for young guests.
There will be some Halloween decorations set up during the day, but the “scare squad,” dim lighting, fog, scary sounds, and other frightening effects do not start until 6 pm, when the serious haunts and scares of Howl-O-Scream begin.
During the Busch Gardens Spooktacular event, guests can enjoy more than 40 kid-friendly attractions throughout the park, including two play areas, the Land of the Dragons and Sesame Street Forest of Fun. Kids can meet take photos with their favorite Sesame Street characters and enjoy a parade (by watching or by being in it) at 4:45 pm each day.
The Count’s Spooktacular runs 10 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, October 7-29, 2017, and is included in park admission. You can save 50% with a special kids’ ticket available to use in October. For more information, visit the Busch Gardens Williamsburg website.
