One of the biggest fall festivals in Northern Virginia is coming up soon: the Burke Centre Festival, two days full of fun, all day long, for all ages. This year’s event takes place Saturday and Sunday, September 10-11, 2016. This annual event, now in its 39th year, features dozens of family activities, live entertainment, and music, all with free admission. All events take place at the Burke Centre Conservancy Grounds. The popular event attracts 8,000-12,000 people annually, festival organizers say.
Activities include amusement rides; children’s activity booths (many of which are free free); music, dancing, puppet shows, and other stage entertainment; karaoke competitions; pony rides; a wildlife show; costumed characters; face and hair painting; amusement rides; giveaways; a games area, and more. For the comfort of guests, the festival provides free shuttle service along the Burke Centre Parkway, and free parking all weekend at five community centers. This festival is very family-friendly, even setting up a private tent for nursing moms.
Festival hours are Saturday 9:30 am to 5 pm and Sunday 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is free. The Conservancy Festival Grounds are at 6060 Burke Centre Parkway in Burke. See details on the festival website.
are there carnival rides at this festival?
They usually do have some smaller ones, but we didn’t attend last year so I don’t know for sure.
