One of the biggest festivals in Northern Virginia takes place this weekend: the Burke Centre Festival, Sept. 7-8, 2019. This annual two-day event, which has been around for more than 40 years, features dozens of family activities, live entertainment, and music, all with free admission. All events take place at the Burke Centre Conservancy Grounds.
Activities include: amusement rides; children’s activity booths (many free); music, dancing, puppet shows, and other stage entertainment; arts and crafts activities; karaoke competitions; pony rides; a wildlife show; costumed characters; and an area for teen games. For the comfort of guests, the festival provides free shuttle service along the Burke Centre Parkway, and a nursing moms privacy tent.
Festival hours are Saturday 9:30 am to 5 pm and Sunday 11 am to 5 pm; there is also an after-hours wine garden on Saturday only (5-10 pm with last call at 9 pm). The Conservancy Festival Grounds are at 6060 Burke Centre Parkway in Burke. See details on the festival website. The event takes place rain or shine!
