Fans of the Harry Potter series may want to start planning a road trip to Roanoke: the city in southwest Virginia (about three and a half hours from the DC suburbs) is hosting a daylong celebrations in honor of the kid wizard and his world.
The organizers of the event are planning on a series of activities for May 13, 2017, that include wand making, Quidditch matches, and more, all related to the hugely successful Harry Potter series of books and the equally popular movie series.
There also will be be an End of Term feast, or family-style buffet with entertainment, magic, and special guests ($20 per person), and a Yule Ball “for wizards and witches over the age of 21” with magic, music, and “special potions” ($50 per person). Admission to the daytime festival is $5 per person and the Quidditch games are free to watch.
