The Lab of the Children’s Science Center at Fair Oaks Mall is turning two years old! We remember well when this fun place first opened (see our first photo tour and later updates!). To celebrate its second anniversary, the center is hosting a Summer of Science celebration on Saturday, June 17, 2017, with two-for-one admission at the Lab to enjoy the full museum, and a free Summer of Science celebration in the mall’s Grand Court. The Summer of Science event is from 1 pm to 4 pm with hands-on activities, fun demos, music, and prizes. The Lab itself is open 10 am to 6 pm. See details below in this notice provided by the Children’s Science Center.
The Children’s Science Center is creating a “Buzz” this summer, offering fun family learning opportunities, special themed activities, weekly camps, and more! It all kicks-off with the Children’s Science Center Lab celebrating its 2nd Birthday on Saturday, June 17 with a special Family Fun Day at the Lab. General admission tickets will be offered to visitors at a “2 For 1” discount. Guests may purchase one full price admission ticket for $12 and get a second ticket free. This event, made possible by generous donations, provides accessibility, promotes family learning, and supports the Center’s mission to instill a love of learning STEM in all children by providing unique opportunities to explore, create and be inspired.
Visitors are asked to purchase tickets online in advance for guaranteed timed entry into the Lab as space for the Family Fun Day is limited. To purchase timed-entry tickets, visit www.childsci.org. Tickets will be sold on the day of the event only as quantities last.
In conjunction with the Lab’s birthday, the Children’s Science Center will also host its annual Summer of Science Celebration in the Grand Court of Fair Oaks Mall on Saturday, June 17, from 1-4 pm. This free event, open to families of all ages, will offer hands-on activities, musical entertainment, prizes and more! Guests can participate in the Great Sunflower Project, take home a sunflower to plant, learn how to count pollinators and collect data to help support research scientists. The Great Sunflower Project is the largest citizen science project focused on pollinators in the country.
The Children’s Science Center’s mission is to instill a love of learning science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in all children by providing unique opportunities to explore, create and be inspired. In addition to the Lab and community programs, the Center is working to fulfill the vision of a full-scale, world-class children’s science museum to be located in Dulles, VA. The Children’s Science Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
